Types of Aspiring Martians
Pioneers
Pioneers are the bold trailblazers, the dreamers who long to take that first historic step onto Martian soil. They thrive on the challenge of the unknown, ready to build the foundations of life on Mars from scratch. These adventurers are not deterred by risks; they see obstacles as opportunities to create history and leave a legacy for future generations. Pioneers are the heartbeat of exploration, driven by an unyielding desire to transform a barren planet into a thriving human outpost.
Citizens
Citizens are the planners and the pragmatists, envisioning a life on Mars only after the dust has settled — literally and figuratively. They dream of calling the Red Planet home once communities are established, infrastructure is in place, and the essentials for a comfortable life are within reach. Citizens see Mars not as a risky frontier but as a chance for a fresh start, a new world where they can contribute to a growing, sustainable society.
Tourists
Tourists are the curious explorers who want to experience the awe of Mars without giving up life on Earth. For them, the journey to the Red Planet is about adventure, wonder, and a temporary escape to a world unlike any other. They dream of gazing at Olympus Mons, feeling the Martian regolith beneath their boots, and capturing the experience of a lifetime before returning to the comforts of home. Tourists are the bridge between worlds, eager to carry the stories of Mars back to Earth.
Meet the Host
Joe Sweeney
Hey, that’s me! I am the creator and host of Aspiring Martians, a community turned podcast dedicated to exploring the lives and aspirations of those who dream of living on Mars. In all transparency, I bring absolutely zero experience of living on Mars, but I do have experience writing and communicating about space and I even once applied to be one of the first people to live on Mars. With a deep curiosity for the future of space exploration, I bring together visionaries, scientists, and enthusiasts to discuss the challenges and wonders of settling on the red planet.
